The Democratic Republic of Congo has some of the world’s worst child mortality rates, with many children severely malnourished. Save the Children started a vegetable patch gardening programme to help them. Mums who joined up got a gardening pack and were taught how to grow vegetables at home. Soon their children could look forward to nutritious food grown in their own back yard.

In many countries prone to drought, families struggle to grow food. The soil is poor and they don’t have the tools they need. The gift of gardening tools, hardy seeds and fertiliser represents a donation to our hunger reduction work, and could help a vulnerable family grow vegetables at home.
