Sofia* age 16

“I thought it was the end of the world or something.”

When Russia invaded Ukraine, Sofia fled to Kharkiv and now lives there with her Grandmother. Her home was destroyed in shelling, her father was wounded and her mother has been missing for eight months.

Sofia received child advocacy training, and she and her Grandmother received cash from Save the Children for essentials like clothes and utility bills.

Sofia has made new friends and wants to become a journalist once she has found her mum.
